An unusual early Victorian parcel-gilt oblong casket supported by four cast poodles and with matching surmount, with egg and dart borders and foliate-decorated sides and hinged cover inset with blue-enamelled plaques, the sides also inset with clear glass plaques, the corners applied with cast loosely-draped putti holding birds, the cover applied with a cast floral and foliage garland enhanced with blue enamelling, lined in yellow plush and on an ebonised shaped oblong wooden base, fitted with a lock and with elaborate gilt metal key, probably William Nichols, London 1844 - overall length 13¼in.
