Dodds studied at the Art Students League with Yasuo Kuniyoshi and Henry Mattson and maintained a studio in Woodstock during the summers. In addition to the Woodstock Artists Association, she was member of the National Association of Woman Artists. In a review of an exhibit she had at Argent Galleries in New York, a critic commented: 'Young as this artist is she seems to weave into her work haunting memories of past lives, a yearning for the romance running through the album of her imagination.'
