THREE DIMENSIONAL VALENTINES
Three 3 Dimensional chromolithographic valentine cards depicting children, two in fantastical boats with gilded details, holding bunches of roses, with printed verses, one reading 'To my valentine. 'Tis my delight to bring you this within its folds you'll find a kiss', the other of two cherubs placing hearts into a bag, standing in front of a garland of flowers encircling a dove with a classical portico behind, wreathed in flowers with gilded details, circa 1880-90; a large heart-shaped valentine depicting a beautiful woman holding a posy of flowers, with a cherub resting on her shoulders hiding her eyes, the printed inscription reads 'To my valentine. Oh, let your eyes gaze on me, Love, For when you hide their light My heart is dark, but in their looks it glows with sunshine bright', circa 1890-1910; and another of the same date of a young man encircled by a heart, sitting with his feet in the foreground with moveable soles, sliding to reveal the printed 'My sole desire is to be thine. Accept me for thy Valentine'. (5)
