MECHANICAL CARDS
A mechanical hand-coloured lithographic card by 'Dean & Son', with pull tag mechanism causing an elegant man to raise his eyeglass to his eye, the lithographed verse reads 'You Impudent puppy who at the girl's stare, With your eyeglass, pen, Albert and Pegs, And then, lisping out with a dancing air "Haw-demme! nice girl and fine legs"', circa 1850-1860, 8½ x 5½in; a chromolithographic mechanical card in the shape of a rose bouquet, the pull tag causing the roses to rise to reveal hidden verses; A pair of hand-coloured lithographed cards with printed verses, by 'Fielding & Co.', depicting a fashionable young lady with her dog, one deliberating a gate post, the other depicting her stuck in the gate post revealing her petticoat, the verse reads 'Tiney my dear, I fear its no go, My dress is entangled I find; Good gracious! dear me! I am fix'd on the post, And a gentleman's coming behind', circa 1859, 7¼ x 4½in; and another mechanical card. (5)
