Chancery 8° (143 x 95 mm.). Collation : A-H8. 64 numbered leaves. Roman type 81 mm., 28 lines. Woodcut of a game in progress on title-page (same block as 4th ed.), woodcuts of the six chessmen (different blocks from 4th ed.), 92 woodcut chess diagrams (same blocks as 4th ed.). (Title cropped and with holes, Blass library-stamp offset onto title and text, last page soiled). Contemporary limp vellum (recased).

Fifth, second undated, edition. The set of chessmen has been replaced with a much improved series of cuts. Van der Linde I, 341-342; Sander 2295.
