(8 x 6 in.), contemporary vellum wrapper cut from a sixteenth-century document in French, concerning liability for military service in an unidentified city, title ink-lettered on lower edges, and, in a later hand, on spine, lacking 4 leather ties, upper paste-down endpaper unglued revealing spine lining consisting of fragments from three different 12th-13th century manuscripts; small tear to parchment on spine, title-leaf stained, light dampstain to lower margins at end.
