An extremely fine early 19th century French Prisoner of War Box Wood model of a Royal Naval 94 gun ship of the line. -- 9½ x 7in (24 x 17.8cm)
With bound masts, yards with stun's'l booms, original standing and running rigging, standards and deck details including carved warrior figurehead, decorated hair rails, anchors with bound wooden stocks, catheads, belaying rails, bitts, capstan, (one detached), ships bell with canopy, ballustrading, water barrels, gratings, deck lights, upper deck guns (four missing) and three ship's boats with thwarts, one in stern davits. The hull has horn strakes and finely carved stern and quarter galleries and is finished in varnish and red with some gold leaf decoration and mounted on two brass supports on bone and horn inlayed stand with ballustraded surround. Original Leicestershire straw-work box with drop down glazed front, original curtains, mirrors, bone fittings and doors. (Some old minor damages)
