TAYLOR, ZACHARY, President. Letter boldly signed ("Z. Taylor Col. 1st Regmt., U.S. Infty Comdg."), to Adjutant General R. Jones, Fort Crawford, 18 September 1835. 1 page, 4to, 250 x 200mm. (10 x 8 in.), text of letter a bit pale. Colonel Taylor forwards his periodic return of troops under his command: "Enclosed herewith you will receive a return of this regiment for the month of August 1835...P.S. Lieut[enant] Storer has permission from Major Blis to come down to this post for his Lady, & as he could not get back at the expiration of his leave he was allowed by Col[onel] Taylor to remain a few days, which accounts for his being reported 'absent without leave.' He has since returned to the post..."
