A Qajar polychrome lacquer papier-mache rectangular qalamdan, the top painted and gilt with a scene of an Indian prince visiting a sage flanked by portrait medallions and figures at leisure, the sides with equestrian hunting scenes alternating with portrait medallions (some pieces of lacquer missing) -- 10½in. long, enclosing three pens.
