Lot Essay

The restrained rococo carving and imposing form of these armchairs relates them to other Roman armchairs in the Instituto Romano di San Michele and the collections of Principe Don Livio Odescalchi and Marchese Patrizio Patrizi Naro Montoro, illustrated in G. Lizzani, Il Mobile Romano, Milan, 1970, pp. 102-4, figs. 175 and 178-180.
