In the above match, played at Ayrseome park before 25,000 spectators, the Football League defeated the Scottish League 2-0.
George H. Holley was born at Seaham Harbour, Co., Durham on 20th November 1885. He joined Sunderland in November 1904 and played with the club until being transferred to Brighton & Hove Albion in July 1919. He helped Sunderland to the Division 1 Championship in season 1913 and was an F.A. Cup finalist the same season. He made 10 full England International appearances and played on five occasions for the Football League
