A Meissen ewer emblematic of Earth from a set of the Elements, after an original by J. J. Kändler, the flattened globular body moulded in relief and applied with hounds chasing deer, a boar, a bear and fox between figures of Diana and Pan, the reverse with a landscape, between leaf moulded bands, the sheaf moulded scroll handle surmounted by a putti holding a basket of fruit, the foot applied with a putti leaning on a spade, painted in colours and gilt (extensive chips to foliage, damages to handle, bow and horns, some wear), blue crossed swords mark, incised numerals, Pressnummer, circa 1880 -- 26in. high
