Lot Essay

Peter Cushing (1913-1994) is most famous for his involvement with the Hammer horror films, specialising in the role of the sepulchral Baron Frankenstein, such type-casting allegedly caused Cushing to complain If I played Hamlet, they'd call it a horror film. Ingrid Pitt starred alongside Cushing in many of the Hammer films and is perhaps best known for her roles in horror classics such as The Vampire Lovers (1970), Countess Dracula (1971), and The Wicker Man (1973), which today have acquired a cult following.
