Lot Essay

Winona Ryder can be seen wearing a similar dress during the climax of the film when Professor Van Helsing [Anthony Hopkins] and his cohorts attempt to drive Dracula away. Dracula calls Mina to him while the Professor trys to ward off his power with circles of fire and crucifixes. Spots of stage blood can still be seen on the lime-green silk lining of the dress.

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, Bram Stoker's Dracula received four Academy Award nominations winning Best Costume Design, Best Special Effects and Best Make-Up, and four BAFTA nominations.
