A Napoleon III ebonised, gilt-metal-mounted and inlaid meuble d'appui, of undulating serpentine outline, surmounted by a marble top, the frieze, sides and central enclosing panel door veneered in scarlet tortoiseshell inlaid with a marquetry of cut brass, in designs of interlaced scrolling foliage, with singeries, figures, birds and vases of flowers, the similarly-decorated stiles headed with bacchanalean figures on bracket feet with sabots -- 44in. (112cm.) wide, 17½in. (44cm.) deep, 44in. (112cm.) high.
