A mid-Victorian walnut, burr-veneered, gilt-metal-mounted and inlaid library bookcase, of recessed broken outline, decorated with interlaced scrolling foliate tendrils, with paterae and husk chains, the upper part with a moulded cornice fitted with adjustable shelves and enclosed by five arched glazed panelled doors, the lower part fitted with five drawers and enclosed by five panel doors, the centre with an oval hardstone panel of a bird amongst an urn of flowers and fruit, flanked by projecting fluted half column stiles with composite capitals on shaped bracket feet, the locks stamped indisctintly Hobbs & Co., London -- 116in.
