A Westerwald Royalist stoneware globular jug with loop handle applied with a moulded medallion enclosing the initials GR beneath a crown supported by birds and above a cherub, within a border of incised spirals and stars fringed by arcades and flanked by two sprays of stylised foliage, all enriched in cobalt, inscribed 1/2 in cobalt to the reverse, beneath a neck incised with parallel lines enriched in manganese (hairline crack), circa 1740 -- 9¾in. high
