A finely engineered 1in:1ft scale model of James Booth's Rectilinear Engine of 1843 built from patent drawings by A. Mount. Measurements overall - 12 x 9¾in. (30.5 x 24.8cm.)
With brass bound wood lagged cylinder 2in. bore x 2¼in. stroke, draincocks and pipes, main stop valve, the crankshafts mounted on six tapered columns with four bearings, the crosshead guides and links built in a framework supported on the inner columns, belt pulley and spoked flywheel, finished in green and polished brightwork.
