A pearlware group of a tiger and hind
naturalistically modelled standing four square, the tiger dragging the hind by the neck in it's jaws, on a stepped base, painted in colours -- 14½in. (36.8cm.) wide, early 19th century (damages and restoration)

The model of the tiger in this lot is similar to those models used in the 'Death of Munroe' groups made by Sherratt and other Staffordshire potters in the early 19th century, cf. Pat Halfpenny 'English Earthenware Figures 1740-1840', p. 208
