Decorated in gold hiramakie, takamakie, shakudo and nashiji, the front set with seven drawers and two doors opening to reveal a small interior cabinet, the doors decorated to the front with a bird of prey perched on a flowering plum branch, the reverse with several cranes, the drawers decorated with flower mon and peony on geometrical and swastika-pattern ground, the top with a bird of prey perched in a flowering plum with two song-birds in flight, the sides with a cockerel and a chicken below bamboo and flying song-birds amidst pomegranate branches, applied with elaborately engraved copper-gilt kanagu and butterfly handles to the drawers, raised on a black lacquer stand on four short cabriole legs, some old wear
