JOHN KIRWAN
John Kirwan was born in Wicklow, Ireland in 1878 and came to Britain to play for Southport before joining Everton in July 1898. In July 1899 he joined Tottenham Hotspur and between then and the early part of 1905 he played almost 350 times for Spurs scoring 97 goals. He helped Spurs to their F.A.Cup win in 1901 and also to the Southern League Championship the previous season. He joined Chelsea in 1905 and Clyde in May 1908. Thereafter there was a brief period with Leyton before becoming a coach which saw him travelling to Holland in this capacity in 1910. He was also a coach with the Italian side Livorno and played a total of 17 times for Ireland.

Kirwan played just the once for Ireland this season in the match against Wales, played on 24th February 1900 at Llandudno, Ireland were defeated by Wales 2-0.
