In the Home Championship/World Cup Qualifying match against Northern Ireland, played on 3rd October 1953 at Belfast, Scotland won 3-1. In the Home Championship/World Cup Qualifying match against Wales, played on 14th November 1953 at Glasgow, Scotland and Wales drew 3-3. In the Home Championship/World Cup Qualifying match against England, played on 3rd April 1954 at Glasgow, Scotland were defeated by England 4-2.

The above Scotland International cap was awarded to the former Celtic and Chelsea right-half/centre-half Bobby Evans, who made a total of 48 appearances for Scotland between 1949 and 1960. Scotland's Player of the Year' in 1953, Evans joined Celtic in 1954 from St. Anthony's. During a very successful period with Celtic he won the Division 1 Championship in 1954 and the Scottish Cup in 1951 and 1954. He also won the Scottish League Cup with Celtic, in 1957 and 1958 and was a Scottish Cup Runner-up in 1955 and 1956. He joined Chelsea in May 1960 and the following season was transferred to Newport County as player/manager before coming back north of the border in July 1962 to join Morton. Thereafter there were periods with Third Lanark and Raith Rovers before retiring in 1967
