AN UNUSUAL CYPRIOT WHEELMADE WHITE PAINTED WARE AMPHORA
CYPRO-ARCHAIC, 750-600 B.C.
With two vertical strap handles, on flared ring foot, the body with elaborate black painted floral decoration, a frieze of inverted lotus buds around the shoulder, friezes of stylized floral rosettes and cross-hatched meander below, the neck with three panels of lotus buds on each side, ladder pattern down the handles and triangle around the narrow everted rim, repaired; and a Bichrome Ware stemmed bowl with twin loop side handles, the deep bowl decorated on each side in red and black with three panels containing lotus flowers, bordered by vertical lines, frieze of inverted lotus buds around the rim, the stemmed foot and interior with concentric red bands and black lines, repaired, Cypro-Archaic, 750-600 B.C.
