A CYPRIOT WHITE PAINTED WARE JUG WITH TRIPOD BASE
MIDDLE BRONZE AGE, 1900-1650 B.C.
The round bodied jug with beak spout, the neck with oval side aperture, small loop handle, decorated with bands of black painted zigzags and cross-hatched triangles, on three small feet, one foot and spout tip restored, 7 1/8 in. (18 cm.) high; another beak-spouted jug, similar, with rounded base, 7½ in. (19 cm.) high; a jug with cutaway-beak spout, similar ware, small loop handle, three bosses around base of neck, four others around the body, overall with black painted linear decoration, vertical cross-hatched bands interspersed with vertical wavy lines, spout repaired, 6¼ in. (16 cm.) high; and a jug, similar ware, with cylindrical neck and anthropomorphic thumb-rest at join with handle, the tall stylized head with large projecting nose and pierced eyes, overall decorated with registers of cross-hatched connecting triangles and diamond motifs, repaired, 6 5/8 in. (16.8 cm.) high, all Middle Bronze Age, circa 1800-1650 B.C. (4)
