Lot Essay

This drawing will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné of Kandinsky drawings by Vivian Endicott Barnett.

According to Barnett, Kandinsky drew this work by 1930, and signed it by 1933. The drawing was likely pre-dated, as it does not resemble the artist's works from 1916. Barnett also notes that several other works illustrated in the 1930 Grohmann monograph were also pre-dated by the artist.
