Powder box
French; early 19th-century, with coloured transfer-decorated glass lid on white background, depicting a kneeling cupid projecting a lantern image on clear glass window, opening in three sections, the middle section with inscription C'est L'Amour qui fait le monde â la ronde, with a paper-lined powder compartment, the sides with gold painted embossed foliate pattern paper band and gilt metal rim -- 9cm. (3½in. diameter)

A similar powder box with a different design was sold in Magic Lanterns, Optical Toys and Cameras, 12 May 2000. The lid showed cupid projecting images with a lantern, watched by a pair of lovers.
