AN IVORY NETSUKE AND AN IVORY OKIMONO

The netsuke: katabori, stained ivory; a figure of a man in court dress holding aloft a presentation box, the token himotoshi in the side, with signature in incised and stained characters Kaigyokusai Masatsugu
The okimono: a small and very intricately carved model depicting Jo, one half of the archetypal faithful old couple Jo and Uba, sweeping the ground under a pine tree by a gate, the imitation himotoshi formed by a large and a small hole in the base, signed with incised seal-type characters in a red reserve Tozan
1 3/8 x 7/8in. (3.5 x 2.3cm.) and 1 7/8 x 2 3/16in. (4.8 x 5.6cm.) respectively (2)
