CHINESE COMBINATION COVERS
QQMail to overseas countries had to be sent through on of the foreign post offices. If mailed from a town or city without an office or agency, a Chinese stamp (or cash paid chop) needed to be applied to pay the local delivery to the appropriate foreign post office
Small Dragon Combination Cover
cover 1891 (15 Jan.) envelope (vertical crease) addressed to Hannover bearing Small Dragon 3ca. mauve tied by a light strike of Peking seal in blue and paying the internal rate via Tientsin to Shanghai, Reichspost 20pf. dull blue tied by Shanghai type 1 c.d.s.; the reverse bears the three Customs c.d.s. and Hannover arrival.
