A wood netsuke of a fox mask
Early 19th Century
with an articulated jaw, carved with ears pricked forwards, the tongue and lips in red, the eyes inlaid with mother-of-pearl, incised Deme-uman Tenka-ichi signature to reverse -- 1½in. (3.8cm.) high; and a wood manju netsuke of circular shape, the side with pierced panels of figures in garden scenes, the top with a similar scene within geometric bands, the reverse with incised Fusho signature -- 1½in. (3.8cm.) diam., (minor wear).
