A Satsuma hexagonal jar, liner and cover
19th century
the jar painted and gilt with panels of birds amongst flowers, Immortals and boys and pavilions and retreats in mountainous landscapes, all within borders of stylised leaves, demi-florets and geometric designs, the liner with an open flowerhead to the centre and butterflies above irises to the base, the cover with a bud finial above geometric motifs and a spray of peonies to the underside -- 7in. (17.8cm.) high, signed Meizan sei and sealed Satsuma....
