A French gilt-brass and Limoges enamel mounted striking and repeating carriage clock
No.380. Circa 1885
The anglaise case with stylised Greek key and part reeded handle, mounted with enamel side panels decorated en grisaille with classical ladies, one holding a gilt mirror and the other a gilt ewer, each resting on a pedestal and portrayed on a crimson-brown ground, the conforming dial with foliate scroll spandrels and with a flowering urn beneath the gilt Roman chapter ring, with gilt hands, the twin barrel movement with silvered platform to the bimetallic balance with lever escapement, with strike/repeat on gong to the backplate numbered 380, with repeat number to underside of case
6 2/3in. (17cm.) high to hilt of handle
