A Japanese iron and brass striking lantern clock (KAKE-DOKEI)
Second half 19th century
The rectangular case with iron top and base plates, doors to sides, cylindrical tapering feet, the dial with black lacquered chapter ring with gilt characters and revolving red lacquered disc to the centre with later pierced brass hand, the two train movement with verge escapement and foliot, countwheel strike on domed bell; with a purpose made red painted tapering stand
The clock -- 14½in (37cm.) high, 64½in. (164cm.) high overall
