A Japanese brass and iron striking lantern clock with alarm, on stand (DAI-DOKEI)
Second half 19th century
The rectangular case etched overall with a mottled patina, with iron top and base plates, on octagonal feet, the black lacquered chapter ring with gilt characters, the central revolving brass disc with pin-hole alarm set and pierced blued steel stationary hand, the two train movement with verge escapement and double foliot, with countwheel strike and alarm on bell; on later hardwood stand with stepped platform and cabriole legs, under glazed hood
