Japanese brass and iron striking lantern clock, on stand (YAGURA DOKEI)
Second half 19th century
The rectangular case etched with a mottled patina overall, with iron top and base plates, on tapering feet, the black lacquered chapter ring with gilt characters, with revolving central disc gilt painted with dragons against a crimson ground and mounted with a stationary pierced brass hand, the two train movement with verge escapement and foliot, with countwheel strike on domed bell; on red lacquered pyramidal pedestal with silver painted leaf motif to the removeable front door
The clock -- 10¼in. (26cm.), 42in. (107cm.) high overall
