A German or Austrian engraved brass striking and repeating travel clock with alarm
Mid 18th Century
The stepped and arched case with loop handle to the top engraved with an inscription in Gothic script with monograms and the dates 1765 and 1845, the foliate scroll engraved sides with shaped glazed panels, the dial with conforming engraving and figures of Justice and Fortune, with a regulation ring to the top above a pewter chapter ring with milled band, with Roman hours and Arabic five minutes and fleur-de-lys half hour markers, the centre with brass alarm-setting disc, with later steel quatreform hands, the movement with chain fusee going train with vertically positioned plain brass three arm balance to the backplate, the strike and alarm trains with spring barrels and bell to the underside of the case
