A Continental gilt and silvered metal striking crucifix clock
Base circa 1600, remainder 19th Century
The case of typical form with the figures of Mary and St. John on a foliate engraved base at the foot of the cross applied with the Corpus Christi and with further pierced foliate embellishments, the gilt sphere above with hour and minute rings and surmounted by a cockerel, the watch case pierced and engraved with foliage housing the squared bell, the earlier gilt-metal base cast with arabesque strapwork and on brass bun feet, the four pillar movement with going barrels for the verge escapement with bridgecock balance and hairspring, going barrel also for the rack strike on the bell, the movement secured to the hinged top cover by means of three blued steel latches

and a brass and glass 17th century style pocket watch, of stepped octagonal outline and with bevelled glass panels, with loop suspension, the foliate engraved dial applied with a silvered Roman dial, single steel hand, the verge movement with octagonal plates and baluster pillars, with engraved and pierced open-footed cock to the balance, late 19th century -- 2 3/8in.
