A universal equinoctial ring-dial
18th Century
With sliding throne/index to read the quadrant scale engraved on one side of the meridian ring, the other side plain, the equinoctial ring with hours 1 to 12 (x 2) on each side, with the appropriate divisions on the inner edge, the bridge engraved with a calendar scale with days on one side, and a sliding pin-hole site, contained in the original purple plush-lined circular case, with a second compartment (empty) for a similar instrument, the case covered with fishskin with silver studding around the edge
