The case with broken arch cresting surmounted by twin cherubs, flanking a wooden panel within gilt-metal frame, the sides with volutes and with columns flanking the dial (one gilt and silvered wood, the other pierced gilt brass), above breakfront section inset with coloured hardstone panels, the stepped base raised on cherub-headed scroll feet to the front, the engraved brass arched dial with leafy scroll upper spandrels and cherubs trailing a signature banner Georg Braun Augusta below the silvered Roman dial, the centre engraved with a cherub trailing a floral garland and a radiant triangle, with painted rolling moon above with silvered arch and orbs, the single fusee movement with plain brass three arm balance; case mid 18th Century, dial and movement late 19th Century
