A Victorian engraved gilt-brass and malachite-mounted travel timepiece with en suite stand
Barwise, London. Mid 19th century
The case engraved with foliate scrolls against a lined ground, with foliate-clasped handle rising from lions' heads, malachite panels to the top and sides, the angles with baluster and polygonal columns terminating in hairy paw feet, the solid rear door with sprung catch, with conforming engraving to the white enamel Roman chapter disc, signed Barwise LONDON, with fine blued steel hands, the single barrel movement with gilt platform to the lever escapement with plain steel three arm balance; mounted on a stand with malachite-panelled top and conforming cabochon bosses, on cabriole legs joined by stretchers
