An English walnut and marquetry longcase clock
The breakarch hood with inset columns and glazed side panels, with convex throat mouldings above a trunk door with moulded frame, reserves of bird and flower marquetry, with brass frame to the lenticle, plain walnut panels to the sides, on shortened plinth with conforming marquetry and raised on later bracket feet, the 10½in. wide brass dial with later mask and foliate spandrels to a later Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and date aperture, associated hands, the arch with convex disc spuriously signed Windmills Wightman London, dial reduced, the four ringed pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement; case associated to dial and movement, case basically late 17th/early 18th century, with restorations and replacements to marquetry, dial and movement first half 18th century and adapted -- 81in. (206cm.) high
