A Chinese archaistic celadon jade fang ding with inlaid wood cover
18/19th Century
the rectangular body carved on each side with taotie masks between raised flanges, supported on four elephant head legs, the rim with angular upright handles, the wood cover inlaid in mother-of-pearl, malachite, lapis and horn with taotie masks, with a pale jade carved and pierced finial of a bird amongst flowers, on a rectangular wood stand, in a fitted hardwood box with incised calligraphy and carrying handles -- 7¼in. (18.6cm.) high, (one leg restuck, inlay missing to cover).
