A [?]late 17th-Century Chinese miniature ivory diptych compass sundial,
the lid with calendar volvelle inscribed with Chinese characters in black and red, the underside of the lid with a simple hour dial with Chinese characters and string gnomon, the base with a compass with iron needle and brass cap and glazed cover with graduatations around the outside, further inscribed with graduations around the edge of the base with thirteen holes up each side, the vertical sides of the base with furter inscriptions in Chinese -- 1¾in. (4.5cm.) long
