A 19th-Century Chinese wooden multiple sundial and geomancer's compass,
the octagonal base with a central glazed compass on the upperside, surrounded by compass directions and four inclining dials with folding brass gnomons and Chinese characters in black and red, each with a character inscribed on the back and a folding brass support, to fit into a series of slots, each labelled presumably according to latitude, the underside with a geomancer's compass with a glazed compass at the centre surrounded by a series of scales in Chinese -- 6 7/8in. (17.5cm.) wide
