Illuminated frontispiece depicting Saint Mary in foreground with Christ bearing a cross behind her, bordered in a baroque florae and puti motif, one folding plate with a lineage chart within a tree motif. (A few leaves detached.) Contemporary blind tooled red morocco over wooden boards (minor wear and staining). Stamp bearing a coat-of-arms "Carolus III. G. Hispania R. Rex." at the head of many pages. -- A 19th century American hand-scripted Geograpy book. New Orleans, 1843. 4o, handsomely scripted in black and red with numerous illustrations, maps, decorative titles and initials, pages numbered in red to 116 (some foxing and discolorations). Half-red morocco gilt and marbled boards (rubbed). Dedication inscription reads: "To Miss Celestine Reynes, by her mother P.R.//New Orleans, 1843." -- Indian manuscript. 8o, oblong, text in red and black inside hand-ruled borders colored in yellow, red and blue. Decorative cloth cover (lacking upper cover, first blanks and pages of text chipped). Stamp on endpaper reads: "Indian Handicrafts Emporium, Delhi (India)." (3)
