A PAIR OF ITALIAN ORMOLU-MOUNTED GREEN-PAINTED AND PARCEL-GILT COMMODES
19th/20th Century, possibly Marche
Each with serpentine faux marble top with moulded and pounced foliate border above two serpentine drawers decorated in gilt with floral sprays above a trompe l'oeil pavement design, within a scrolled and pounced border, the rounded trellis-built angles and conformingly decorated sides above a shaped apron and on cabriole legs headed by foliate pendants and terminating with upswept foliate simulated sabot, one commode with pencil inscription to the inside of the carcass 'MOBILE II' the other commode with blue pencil inscription to the underside 'K2-38', minor losses to gilding and decoration,
