A CARVED AND INLAID SLIDE-LID BOX
American, probably New England, dated 1850
Rectangular, with tapering sides, arched end and heart carved terminus on the box and slide-lid, the sides inlaid with red and black wax and abalone in hearts, diamonds, pots issuing flowers, scrolling vines and a pinwheel, the top initialled F.L.M. the short end inlaid M.W.M. and dated 1850
