Each with a large Valckenier coat-of-arms in the center beneath the shaded pink falcon crest, an inner border of grisaille and gilt grapevine around the well and the rim with three finely painted grisaille views of European towns with the crest at the bottom shown in landscape

Lot Essay

A number of Valckenier family members were prominent in the Dutch China trade and ordered armorial porcelain, including Adriaan Valckenier, Governor-General of the Indies 1737-41. See C.J.A. Jorg, op. cit., p. 303
