Lot Essay

Placed in front of a curtain, in a typical Brücke interior, are Doris Große and Fränzi Fehrmann. Nicknamed Dodo by Kirchner, the woman who was born in 1884 was often used by Kirchner in his art to represent the vuluptuous female, whilst Fränzi represented for Kircher the pre-pubescent nude. These two aspects of the feminine are represented in this drawing.
We thank Professor Dr. Dr. Gerd Presler for his academic contribution.
