Lot Essay

Lina Franziska Fehrmann (1900-1950), first came in contact with the Brücke painters Erich Heckel, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Max Pechstein in the summer of 1909. As one of the main themes of the group being 'the nude as a basis of all visual art', she became a crucial figure and model for the artists. Often depicting her in motion, Kirchner has drawn her in this work playing with her marionette.
We thank Professor Dr. Dr. Gerd Presler for his academic contribution.
