Lot Essay

While John Schuppe is perhaps best known for his cow creamers, Arthur Grimwade notes that his mark also appears on 'figure tapersticks'.
A similar example of 1766 by Emick Romer was offered at Christie's New York on 23 October 2000 as part of The Hahn Family Collection, lot 226.
